I consider myself a jazz man in the world of ideas; a blues man in the life of the mind. Because my models were jazz musicians and blues men - men who had to find their voices, not just be echoes. Here I plan to let my voice be heard through words and photos.

Grace and peace to you all.

Probably my favorite picture of myself. Probably one of maybe 3 photos that I think I can see the “pretty”.
It was when the freckles started appearing but before they got all crazy on my face, lol. But that’s not why I like it. I think I like this picture the best because it wasn’t planned or posed. I was working on the computer and Dasan came in with the camera and asked to take my picture. I turned around and smiled. Not my usual “posed” smirk but an actual smile. I think I was happy that day.
I want to do this kind of photography. I want to capture people off guard and show unplanned, unspoiled beauty. Beauty without thought. Beauty that just is.
When I look at this picture I think I need to get back to this Denisio. The one who wasn’t afraid to smile her crooked smile in a picture. The one who didn’t even think about the evenness of a smile or what angle makes my face look less chubby. I need to get back to the me that accepted me fully.
